The news of our impending move to Nelson was met with – uh, well – quite a wild hodgepodge of reactions from friends and family. While all were surprised and many taken aback, some expressed support laced with gentle concern, others were warmly enthusiastic, while still others showed open disdain or worse – complete avoidance of the topic. It’s been a wild roller-coaster ride of emotions for us in this “breaking the news” phase of our life-changing decision, but we’re staying the course. I’m often grateful for my love of cartooning – so cathartic, especially at times like these. OH – and I just read that the slogan of Kootenay Lake Tourism is:
“Far Out. For Real.”
I can dig it.
I don’t know. Looks like they might have pirates in Nelson in spite of the name.
I am so happy for you both. Run with it. And any new adventure is wonderful. Life is way too short, as we know.

Yes, but they all wax rhapsodic in those beautiful Gilbert & Sullivan libretto’s.
We’re in the category of “support, laced with gentle concern”!!
Solidly!
Climb every mountain, ford every stream, follow every rainbow but do it quickly before the sun sets behind Elephant Mountain at 4:00 p.m. In June.
Bastard!
We’ll face Elephant Mountain every artificial sunset and genuflect (in a gentle nod to Eddie).
If you don’t give it a go …..you’ll never know.
It’s that bit of fear that can provide the impetus and energy , grasshopper .
………..a great adventure ….
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein. So go for it!
i read this post and thought of L2: Nelson is not that far away! http://chrisguillebeau.com/3×5/theres-no-such-place-as-far-away/
